The Iraqi Parliament agreed to hold the general elections on the determined date yesterday. Accordingly, the general elections in Iraq shall be held on the 30th of April 2014.
The Election Law could not be put to the vote in yesterday’s Parliamentary session due to the continuance of the disputes between the political groups. The parliamentary session was postponed to the following Monday.
In the meeting chaired by Head of Parliament Usame El Nüceyfi an agreement to hold the general elections on the 30th of April 2014 was ensured. In order to enable the execution of the elections on the determined date Parliament has requested that the Council of Ministers and the Independent Electoral High Commissioner determine allowances to enable the necessary works.
