UN pays $1 billion to Kuwaiti invasion 'victims' from Iraqi oil fund
A UN panel has approved more than $1 billion in compensation payments for victims of Iraq's 1990 invasion of Kuwait, a spokesman for the UN Compensation Commission reported Thursday. The commission says the money will go to five companies and four government or international bodies. The identities of the claimants have not been disclosed, but are said to be from Kuwait.
