The War Against Iraqi Women - British Speaking Tour!
All Welcome!
Hanaa Ibrahim, founder of Women's Will Association, an Iraqi womens organisation, which is based in both Iraq and Syria, and editor of Minds, a monthly women publication, will be on a one off speaking tour of London between 21st Jan – 15th Feb.
Hanaa Ibrahim who continues to work in Iraq despite all threats, will present a first hand testimony on the plight of Iraqi women under occupation. Despite the destruction, violence and human rights abuses that Iraqi women face on a daily basis, Hanaa will tell us about their acts of courage and various levels of resistance despite the hardships personal threats they are facing.
On the US/UK war on Iraq Hanaa Ibrahim says: “How absurd when the US led forces invade Iraq, devastate the fragile infrastructure, destroy our cities, loot our public buildings and dismantle all government’s institutions in the name of democracy and human rights. Even more absurd when all is done in the name of women’s rights!”
Hanaa Ibrahim’s visit is sponsored by Global Women Strike (GWS), Christian Peacemaker Teams(CPT), International Action for Iraqi Refugees (IAIR), Women Solidarity for an Independent & Unified Iraq (WSIUI) and Iraqi Solidarity News (Al-Thawra).
Ms Ibrahim will be available for interviews and for meetings.
