Turkmans, which are residing in Kerkuk in the north of Iraq, appeal for material and moral support from Azerbaijani Government and public organizations. The representative of Front of Iraqi Turkmans said in a symposium held in Baku on 4 September, Trend reports.
The Front of Iraqi Turkmans unites 4 political parties. According to Shamsaddin Mustafa Turkmanoglu, one of leaders of the organizations, the Government of Azerbaijan should render education and medical assistance to the residents of Kerkuk.
“We ask Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to assist in the education sphere, in particular, improvement of teachers,” he said.
Meanwhile, Anver Bayragdar, another member of the Front, says it is necessary to open an official representation in Baku to inform other countries and international organization about their problems.
According to Azerbaijani MP Ganira Pashaeva, Turkmans should be supported and all Turkic speaking countries should back them. Azerbaijan could render assistance in education and medical fields.
MP representing Turkmans at the Iraqi Parliament should achieve the establishment of friendship group with the Azerbaijani Parliament. “Within the frames of inter-parliamentary friendship group close contacts will be established and mutual visits will be organized. It will allow for assistance to the fraternal people on the level of Parliament,” Pashaeva said.
