Dr.Kamal Sayid Qadir

This is a posting on Kamal Sayid Qadir, a Kurdish legal expert who is an Austrian citizen, with a Doctorate in Constiutional Law and another Doctorate in Political Science. He was condemned to 30 years in prison in 2005, in a trial that lasted for less than an hour, for writing against the corruption of the Barazani clan.

The sentence was reduced to 15 years, and he was released in 2006 after intense international pressure. Now, the Austrian police have apprehended five Kurds, including Barazani's son, Suror, for attempting to kill Kamal in Vienna on Febraury 21, 2008. They injured him badly.
